Budget 2004: Growth for 2003 confirmed at 2.3%

Gordon Brown confirms that economic growth in 2003 was 2.3%, higher than Germany and Japan, which were respectively less than 1% and 1.4%. The US growth rate stood at 2.4%.

Manufacturing is set to grow by 2% in 2004 and 2.4% next year, according to Gordon Brown.

Economic growth in the UK will grow by 3-3.5% in 2005 and 2.5% in 2006.
