Deloitte partners have been appointed administrators to a small pub chain
owned by British Land
veteran Sir John Ritblat.
The pub business Merchant
Inns runs across seven establishments across the south of England,
employing 240 staff.
Neville Kahn and Nick Edwards of
have been appointed joint administrators.
Kahn said it was the administrators’ intention to continue to run the
business as a going concern with a view to selling each of the pubs.
“They are of extremely high quality, in first rate locations and we are
confident of finding a buyer in the near term,” said Kahn.

CRE is charged with selling the assets, which could reportedly earn
Colliers statement on their appointment refers to “unknown financial
liabilities” at the business.
