Margaret Matchett, a former HM inspector of taxes, has set up Tax Gains, which will provide tax investigation and enquiry services to accounting firms.

‘I started the company specifically to help accountants offset the possible consequences of a tax enquiry,’ Matchett said.

She said the service would help firms reach a ‘speedier settlement’ for their client and free up more time for accounting services.
