Fund manager demands new auditor at BskyB
A leading fund manager says it will oppose the re-appointment of Deloitte as auditors of BSkyB and has also criticised corporate governance measures at the media giant.
The news came as BskyB controversially appointed James Murdoch, son of group chairman Rupert Murdoch, as the company’s new chief executive.
Morley Fund Management will vote against re-appointing Deloitte because of potential conflicts of interest, according to the FT. Deloitte earned just £800,000 from its audit work in the last financial year, but took home £7m for non-audit work.
A spokesperson for Deloitte said it could not comment because of ‘client confidentiality’.
BSkyB could not be reached for comment.
