Regarding your article, Is it more than a job's worth? (29 March, page 7), it is obvious that accountants are feeling pressured by their employers to work longer hours.
It is up to individuals to know and to exercise their rights.
Why suffer from ill-health, low morale and a severely depleted social life when one cannot be punished for working one’s contracted hours.
If there is a need, within an organisation, for continued overtime, then the said organisation must look to employ and train more people.
My perception is that the organisations rule their employees by fear.
Don’t allow it.
We work to live. As the great philosopher Tony Moody once asserted: ‘If work was so good, the rich would keep it for themselves.’
