SAS called to fight fraud

Public sector accountancy body CIPFA has teamed up with software vendor SAS to focus on how organisations can work together to combat fraud in UK public finance organisations.

John Baker, counter fraud advisor at the CIPFA Better Governance Forum, claims that only half of UK financial practitioners receive any realistic fraud awareness training.

‘We hope to address that shortfall and ensure UK businesses have access to expert advice and support,’ he said.

The CIPFA Better Governance Forum will be supported by the business intelligence software provider, and undertake joint research into the views and opinions of fraud in the UK. Peter Dorrington, head of fraud at SAS, said: ‘It is clear fraud is a top priority for the UK and we are committed to helping organisations understand the threat they face.’
