Budget 2003: US-style venture businesses proposed
The government is to publish proposals that would see US-style small business investment companies created cross the Atlantic.

Gordon Brown announced the plan to release consultation on the creation of small business investment vehicles which, he said, in the US now account for about 60% of venture capital investments.
Brown also said he would seek the Inland Revenue’s help in building on the success of the research and development tax credits introduced last year. He said he would consult with business to look at the definition of qualifying research.
