Consultancy – New management system goes live.

On the back of the government’s attempts to offer its services online, Dutch-based management solutions provider Agresso has won a #491,000 contract to supply Monmouthshire County Council with its web-enabled financial system, AGRESSO Business World. The system will be installed to manage an #86m budget covering services such as education, highways and environment.

Pressured global information provider Reuters has selected the software to provide the company with a new recruitment management system. Reuters, which has recently announced 1,100 redundancies, is to use Lazy Software’s Sentences technology. The move comes after Reuters pinpointed a need to speed up the tracking process for acquiring new talent. The system will allow it to utilise external recruitment agencies and the internet recruitment system.

Consultancy and training company Mercuri International has awarded a #1m data communications contract to Vanco. The proposition put forward by Vanco will use its IP VPN network to centralise Mercuri’s ASP and ERP applications in one location.

IT services company CRS Computer Services, an arm of the Capito Group, has entered into a partnership with Cable & Wireless. Under the agreement, Scottish organisations will be provided network software, IT platforms and support.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has won a EUR6.5m (#4.1m) order to provide airline Lufthansa with mobile computers in its aircraft cockpits. Some 3,500 Lifebook notebooks will be used by pilots to make pre-take-off calculations which were previously undertaken manually. The new database system contains details of international weather reports and information on all other Lufthansa aircraft.

CMG Admiral has won a #1m contract with Friends Provident to help with a shortage of IT skills in the UK. CMG Admiral is to become responsible for business analysis and consultancy across current and future Friends Provident projects.

Calor Gas UK is to team up with Onyx Software’s CRM solutions to help increase the speed of the gas company’s sales. The system is designed to shorten the sales cycle by automating the administrative tasks required to compile quotations and direct mail. The team plans to focus initially on the bulk tank market, which supplies gas across the UK.
