Taking Stock: Inspect-a-gadget

Executives looking for the latest in electronic gadgetry should go no further than the new IBM Microdrive.

Smaller than a domestic hamster, the tiny hard drive has a one gigabyte memory which is enough to store 25 albums on your MP3 player, or contain a couple of full-length feature films on a pocket PC. Enough said?

Let’s put it this way. This mini hard drive around the size of an after dinner mint has a memory that will take all volumes of the Encyclopaedia Britannica.

At £415 though it is a tad expensive but if you talk in ‘pence per megabyte’ mode it looks value for money.

A hamster, however, is not included.
