With a merger between a triumverate of accounting institutes still a major possibility, 2005 could be a landmark year for the profession, however, it will also be a milestone for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales as it celebrates its 125th anniversary.
The ICAEW has announced that it will celebrate its one and a quarter century celebrations this year with a broad programme based on four key themes: financial literacy in schools, international debate, thought-leadership research and an emphasis on youth.
The institute said the programme had been designed to combine the its more ‘traditional’ public service and technical research agendas with an ‘international dimension’ and a ‘unique leadership challenge’ for its members.
