Three senior members of US financial watchdog announce departure only a day after chairman leaves
A trio of key senior US Securities and Exchange Commission members have
announced their departure – only 24 hours after former chairman William
Donaldson left his position.
Joseph A. Hall, managing executive for policy and a member of Donaldson’s
senior management team, Peter Derby, managing executive for operations and
management, and Matt Well, director of public affairs, all announced that they
were leaving the commission for various reasons.
Hall is leaving the SEC to join his previous employer and law firm Davis Polk
& Wardwell in New York, Derby leaves at the end of this month to ‘explore
options in both the private and public sectors’, while Well is also leaving to
‘pursue opportunities’ in the private sector.
Derby said it has been an ‘honour and a privilege to serve under the
leadership of chairman Donaldson’.
‘The opportunity to work at the “crown jewel” of federal government at such
an historic time has been an experience I will always treasure.’
