More accountants needed in the FA, recommends Lord Stevens, plus a seperate football transfer audit unit
Association is lacking in forensic investigators and accountants,
according to Lord Stevens’ inquiry into whether there is a ‘bung culture’ in
Stevens said that the FA and compliance unit fails to have
credibility with the public, and one of the main reasons behind this is a lack
of accounting expertise.
He has also recommended the creation of a new body to audit football
transfers separate from the FA, according to reports.
Of 362 transfers, Lord Stevens has targeted 17 that
need more investigation.
