French Connection profits halved
Fashion group blames poor summer range for fall in profits
Fashion group French Connection has reported profits halved in the year to
January 31.
The company behind the controversial FCUK brand made £15.7m down from £33.7m
in the previous year. It has faced criticism its clothes are overpriced and
untrendy. Chairman and leading shareholder Stephen Marks blamed a weak summer
range for the problems, the Financial Times reports.
French Connection hit the headlines recently with a television advertising
campaign featuring a lesbian kiss, and women fighting.
The company’s share price fell nearly 3p to 250p yesterday on news of the
profit fall.
