Accountant to head NHS primary care trust

Chris Banks, an accountant and former head of Peterborough and Stamford
Hospitals NHS, will take charge of Cambridge Primary Care Trust (PCT) on 1

Banks role was announced as part of a raft of new PCT appointments.

Pearse Butler, interim chief executive of the East of England Strategic
Health Authority, said: ‘I am confident that we have the right chief executives
in post with the expertise, experience and vision to take forward the new PCTs

Butler said the challenge of the trusts would be to ensure local communities
have access to affordable and appropriate care in the right setting and that
they are involved in making decisions which guide what and how patient care is
