JDS tribunal for former Barings' deputy chairman

The accountancy profession's senior watchdog has laid complaints against the former deputy chairman of the Barings Group for failing to ensure rogue trader Nick Leeson's activities were properly monitored.

He faces a Joint Disciplinary Tribunal which, if it finds against him, could impose fines or exclude him from the profession.

Andrew Marmaduke Lane Tuckey FCA, also faces complaints, laid by Chris Dickson, executive counsel to the Joint Disciplinary Scheme, that he ‘failed during 1994 and 1995 to perform any proper examination of Barings Futures (Singapore) Pte Ltd?s reported profits.’

Another complaint is that he ‘failed to investigate (or cause to be investigated) promptly and properly an apparent transaction known as the SLK receivable and its implications’.

Tuckey has already been disqualified as a company director.
