New Rover FD to begin with business plan

The Phoenix group has appointed a former Rover manager to the position of finance director.

The job has gone to John Millet, a former company controller who has worked for Rover for more than 20 years.

Millet has received high praise from Peter Beale, one of the Phoenix investors, who has shadowed the FD’s job since the consortium took over from BMW.Beale said: ‘The thing that we are pleased about is that we have got our first choice for the job.

‘He has been with Rover for 20 years in various financial posts and this is a fairly small step for him.’

Beale said Millet’s first job would be to produce a business plan to take the car company forward.

He said: ‘All we are trying to do is get people to wind the clock back and run the company as it was then.’
