Today’s release of the company’s annual report revealed that Clarke received a £2.1m bonus, on top of a £295,000 salary and £63,000 worth of benefits marking an increase of over £400,000.
But Clarke will not be on the list of the highest paid UK accountants as he is one of the few FTSE100 finance directors not to hold a CA qualification. He is a solicitor by trade, with an investment banking background.
The group announced profits before tax of £434.6m, an increase of £137.7m from last year’s figure of £296.9m.
