SEC deputy chief accountant to step down
Former Arthur Andersen partner will leave in December
Scott Taub, the
deputy chief accountant at the US Securities and
Exchange Commission, has decided to step down from the regulator.
He played a major role in implementing the controversial
Sarbanes-Oxley
corporate governance reforms.
Taub – a former partner at Arthur Anderson – has been deputy chief accountant
since 2002 and prior to that worked as a professional accounting fellow in the
office of the chief accountant between 1999 and 2001.
He served as acting chief accountant for nine months until Conrad Hewitt was
named to the post this year.
