Queen may e-sign Bill.

The Queen is considering using a digital signature to give Royal Assent to the government’s Electronic Commerce Bill. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Department of Trade and Industry has put the suggestion to the Monarch and she was looking at the implications of such a move. Ministers are keen to persuade her to do it, believing it would be a symbolic gesture towards the new electronic age showing the digital signatures have the same effect as putting pen to paper.
