Deloittes Scotland appoints ex-ICAS president

Cahal Dowds, former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, is to head up Deloitte & Touche's operations north of the border.

He will take over from David Shearer at the end of the year.

Since 2000 Dowds has led the firm’s audit practice, and is credited with securing several new ‘big-ticket’ clients.

Shearer, 44, who will step down at the end of the year, after 24 years at the firm, five of those as head of Scottish operations.
