Despite the introduction of new rules to tackle spam emails, most businesses will still receive a huge raft of unsolicited mail. The EU directive, which took effect last week, means that individual users cannot be sent commercial emails or text messages unless the recipient has agreed in advance to their use. Corporate email addresses are exempt from this, so B2B e-marketing is not affected. However, all direct marketing emails, whoever the addressee, must include proper sender and contact details.
