Borrowing in August at three-year low
ONS figures positive for chancellor, but not good enough, say economists
Public Sector borrowing was at its lowest point in August for three years,
the ONS has said.
Public Sector Net Borrowing was at £4.8bn, rather than the £6bn anticipated
by City forecasters, the statistical authority said.
Experts suggest the better figures would not prevent Chancellor Gordon Brown
missing his borrowing forecasts.
