The move comes after Deloitte sealed similar deals with Andersen in the UK, Spain and parts of Latin America, though missed out on France, which went to Ernst & Young.
Deloitte’s Jos Beddegenoodts will remain as chief executive officer while Andersen’s Ludo De Keulenaer will become vice chief executive of the combined firm.
Separately, KPMG has pulled out of talks with Andersen in the Netherlands.
KPMG, whose international headquarters is in Amsterdam, is the largest firm in the Netherlands.
