All
England Lawn Tennis Club has appointed Richard Atkinson as its new
finance director.
Atkinson, who joins the home of the
Wimbledon
Championships after a 15-year spell at magazine publisher at
Time
Inc, will serve as FD designate from 19 March and will formally
takeover from current incumbent Tony Hughes on 1 June.
Atkinson said he was a ‘keen sports fan’ and delighted to have landed the
role.
‘I am just thrilled to have the chance to be part of this enduring sporting
and business success story,’ he said.
All England Lawn Tennis Club chief executive Ian Ritchie said Atkinson’s
experience would be vital as Wimbledon embarked on a significant capital
expenditure investment its world-class facilities.
‘His expertise and experience will be vital in continuing to ensure we have a
successful and solid business platform, particularly at a time when the Centre
Court is undergoing a dramatic transformation with the overall improvements and
the new roof, which will be ready in 2009,’ Ritchie said.
