Smith & Williamson has acquired two offices of a financial services company in a move that will boost the expansion of its pensions consultancy business.
The firm, which already employs 40 people in its pensions team in its London, Guildford and Salisbury offices, is aiming to forge new relationships, cement existing ones with lawyers, accountants and others who introduce local business.
From July the Bristol and Leamington Spa offices of Hymans Robertson Financial Services will join the Smith & Williamson Group to provide financial and pensions advice.
Peter Mayher, Hymans Robertsons regional partner in the South West, joins the group as a director together with seven staff.
Ronnie Bowie, head of employee benefits at Hymans Robertson, said: ‘This arrangement is the final step in our strategic move to close some of our smaller regional offices. As around 80% of the staff affected by this decision are based in Leamington Spa and Bristol, we are delighted that we have been able to secure this arrangement with Smith & Williamson, which provides continuity for both clients and staff.’
