As Britain looked forward to that annual celebration of love, St Valentine’s day, with its obligatory soppy songs, TS flicked over to Channel Four’s Top Ten love songs of all time to listen to a bit of Percy Sledge. But as the former hospital orderly belted out his best seller, ‘When a Man Loves a Woman’, written for an ex-girlfriend who dumped him for a man with a bigger car, the producer of the hit, Quin Ivy, appeared on the screen. And his current profession? Accounting professor of course. Just goes to show that romance does strange things to people.
