Boots appoints new group finance chief

Boots, the UK's biggest high-street chemist, has appointed Howard Dodd as its new group finance director.

Dodd, a chartered accountant, has experience in the pharmaceutical industry, having worked for Novartis and Zeneca. At the latter, he assumed the position of chief financial officer for Zeneca Specialities and corporate treasurer of Zeneca Group Plc.

He is set to join the company on 1 April, replacing David Thompson who will continue as deputy chief executive until he retires later this year.

Boots CE Steve Russell said Dodd and Paul Bateman, another new executive appointment, were excited about the plans for the company and ‘the opportunity to contribute’.
