    CIPFA member loses out in bid to unseat institute treasurer

    Dissident CIPFA member Ian Perkin has lost his bid to become the institute's new treasurer.

    In council elections Perkin was standing against incumbent treasurer and former Halifax deputy chief executive Gren Folwell who retained his position after members voted 2,297 to 1,478 in the two-horse race.

    Perkin, finance director at St George’s Health Care NHS Trust, has heavily criticised CIPFA claiming its promotion of the institute?s training as portable from public to private sector is ‘disingenuous’.

    Mike Weaver remains president of CIPFA while Chris Hurford stays on as vice-president.

    Threat to withdraw students from CIPFA follows row over training
