Andersen Legal, the legal arm of Arthur Andersen, has hit out at the Dutch ban on multidisciplinary partnerships.
Andersen Legal, the legal arm of Arthur Andersen, has hit out at the Dutch ban on multidisciplinary partnerships.
In a report released at the International Bar Conference (IBA), Andersen Legal stated: ‘We take the view that to compete on a level playing field with other law firms, we must have the same ability to build, manage and market our legal services network ? free from discriminatory regulations or unfair restraints.’
Andersens is currently embroiled in a legal battle with the Dutch bar, and is awaiting a ruling from the European Court of Justice.
Chris Hinze, director of communications with Andersen Legal, said: ‘It is perfectly feasible to put together services while retaining individual professional responsibilities.’
A UK Law Society council meeting in November is due to discuss plans to end its ban on multidisciplinary practices in this country.
