Charity calls for end to airline tax breaks
Friends of the Earth are calling on the government to end lucrative tax breaks granted to airlines, saying the money should rather be invested in transport and public services.

The environmental charity called on airlines to pay their own way, rather than benefit from a variety of tax subsidies, valued at £9.2bn, PA reported.
These include no tax on aviation fuel, exemptions from VAT on flight tickets, buying new aircraft and profits from selling duty-free goods.
It said British regions were missing out on billions as a result of these subsidies.
