Making your community count

This week the English ICA, backed by Accountancy Age, launches a new awards scheme designed to show that accountants are much more than simply industrious professionals.

Thousands of accountants up and down the country regularly give their time to community based activities. Our new awards scheme, called Everybody Counts, will reflect that work.

As well as recognising the thousands who give their time to voluntary work, Everybody Counts hopes to encourage more to do so.

Entries will be divided into four categories: Members in Business; Members in Practice; Younger Members (under 35) and Members of small businesses/firms (those with a maximum of 50 employees). The winner of each category will be presented with a financial donation for their project at a special awards ceremony next March.

‘Although Everybody Counts was originally launched as a millennium initiative, by the time of my election it had become clear that the profession’s involvement in the community was substantial, and deserved wider recognition and support,’ said institute president, Graham Ward.

Accountancy Age and AccountancyAge.com will feature some of the projects in which accountants are engaged between now and next February.
