KPMG UK is enlisting Amex to donate its corporate card rebate to charity and give bonus points for rail travel
As part of a programme with card provider
American
Express, KPMG staff in the UK will be donating their membership rewards
points to charity and receiving bonus points for rail travel in an effort to
encourage them to ‘consider their environmental impact’.
KPMG UK has estimated
about half of its carbon footprint is now accounted for by air travel and its
rebate, plus donations by the portion of its 11,000 staff who use Amex cards,
will produce a £100,000 contribution to its preferred charity, Help the
Hospices.
Mike Kelly, KPMG UK head of corporate social responsibility, has been
collaborating with the firm’s travel department for most of his eight years in
the position, including early programs related to surface transport, carpooling
and travel policies that promote remote conferencing.
KPMG says this latest program is part of its ‘holistic’ approach to corporate
social responsibility (CSR) and carbon awareness.
