Brussels to debate EU-wide financial reforms
Reforms needed to promote a seamless single market in financial services to span the whole European Union will be debated this Friday in Brussels.
To do this, the European Commission has inviting private sector representatives, regulators, national governments and other EU institutions to this key meeting.
The mid-term review of the EU’s Financial Services Action Plan will look at progress achieved thus far and at what work is required to implement its goals by 2005.
Its strategic objectives are many, but include a single set of financial statements for listed companies, the ability to freely raise capital on a pan-EU basis and establishing a common legal framework for integrated securities and derivatives markets
