The number of business service professionals, including accountants and
management consultants, has overtaken workers in the manufacturing sector,
according to a new survey.
Figures compiled by the Centre for Economics and Business Research reveal that
the number of people employed in business services has grown by 2m in the past
15 years to 4.3m, and will increase by a further 400,000 by 2010.
The current figure is 1m more than those employed in manufacturing.
