New post for ex-British Steel FD

Pharmaceutical company Oxford GlycoSciences has appointed accountant John Rennocks to its board and audit committee.

The chartered accountant, who is also non-executive director for five other companies, is a member of the 100 Group of Finance Directors, a group which includes FDs of the FTSE-100 index.

Rennocks has previously worked as executive director of finance at British Steel, and finance director of Powergen and Smith & Nephew.

The appointment comes during a period of high activity for OGS. The company, which develops drugs through the study of proteins, has recently signed a deal with Marconi, accelerated its drug development programme and begun clinical studies into a Gaucher’s disease drug.
