People: CFO set for May arrival at ICI

• ICI has announced the appointment of Tim Scott as chief financial officer with effect from 23 May, the date of the chemical giant’s annual general meeting. He is currently vice president, strategy and performance. He will succeed Alan Spall who will retire at the agm after 30 years, the last six of which he served on the board as chief financial officer. Scott, 38, is both a chemist and accountant by education. His career includes nearly 20 years? experience in the speciality chemicals industry with ICI and Unilever.

• Securicor Guarding, the UK’s largest manned guarding company, has appointed Ken Youngman as finance director. Youngman joins the company from Securicor Recruitment Services where he was FD for three years. Former roles include FD of music and sound system company AEI Rediffusion, and security company Shorrock Alarms. He qualified as a chartered accountant in South Africa in 1982.

• WMRC has announced the appointment of Rupert Levy to the board as FD. Levy joins WMRC from United Business Media, where he was FD of United Business Media International and eBusiness Media, part of the worldwide operations of Miller Freeman. Levy joined UBM in 1994 as part of its financial accounting team and became the group financial controller of Miller Freeman Worldwide plc in 1997. He qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG.

• Last Mile Solutions, the e-grocer, has appointed Richard Exact FCMA as its financial controller. He will be responsible for setting up the finance team and systems in preparation for the service launch later this year. Exact joins LMS from Whitbread. He previously worked at WPP and Sainsbury. He reports directly to Jason Gissing, chief financial officer of LMS.
