Versailles case controller leaves SFO
The head of the Serious Fraud Office's investigation into collapsed trade finance company Versailles has left to take up a new position with fraud prevention group Bishop International.
Paul Lund, will join the company as deputy managing director and will head its fraud prevention division.
Fraud-hit Versailles floated on the Alternative Investment Market in 1995 and grew to a market value of £630m by the time its shares were suspended in December after accounting irregularities were discovered.
The company was placed in receivership in January just days after the SFO launched its investigation and selected Lund as case controller.
Another senior lawyer, who previously had management responsibility on the SFO’s investigation of BBCI, has replaced Lund.
Commenting on Lund’s departure, the SFO said: ‘Paul is a highly respected lawyer who was working on a number of cases for the SFO, including the Versailles investigation. We were happy with his work.’
