'Appointment is international recognition of expertise' says FRC chief executive Boyle
Senior auditing figure, Jon Grant, has been appointed to serve on the
International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board.
The IAASB is currently governed by the International Federation of
Accountants, while subject to oversight of the US Public Interest Oversight
Board.
Grant, who currently serves as executive director of the Finncial Reportng
Council’s Auditing Practices Board, takes up the position on January 1, 2008.
FRC chief executive Paul Boyle welcomed Grant’s appointment. ‘The UK’s
auditing standards are currently based on the IAASB’s standards and the European
Union is considering making their use mandatory in the future,’ he said. ‘Jon
Grant’s appointment to the IAASB is international recognition of his expertise
and helps the UK remain influential in the development of international auditing
standards.’
