Checklist: Customs CCL relief notes

Customs & Excise has published draft notes and guidance on the climate change levy. In the Budget of 1999 chancellor Gordon Brown announced the levy on the business use of energy would be introduced from April 2001.

The information can be found on Customs’ website at the following locations:

PP12: Explanatory notes on the completion and submission of supplier certificates (PP10 & PP11)

CCL2 An introduction to climate change levy

CCL1 A general guide to climate change levy

Customs has also released information for businesses wishing to subscribe to the department’s electronic VAT return service which will become available later this year.
