The size of the worldwide web has grown to more than a billion unique pages, according to research by a US internet indexing operation.
The company, Inktomi, announced the results of the research as it launched what it claims is the world’s largest media search database at 2.5m files.
‘Our study has verified the existence of over one billion unique indexable Web pages on the Internet,’ said Steve Lawrence, scientist at the NEC Research Institute, which worked with Inktomi on the research.
