SAP launches attack on smaller firms
Manufacturing software company SAP has launched an attack on the smaller business market with the launch of a series of preconfigured templates and the appointment of value-added resellers. The templates, known as IndustryPrints, have been developed by Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group’s specialist SAP consultancy, ICS. They cover six vertical industries: automotive, high tech, process, utility, aerospace & defence and consumer-intensive business. The VARs will develop tailored versions of SAP for their own industry sectors, only enabling those processes relevant to the sector, but retaining full functionality should it be required at a later stage. Meanwhile, SAP reseller PSI has been appointed by the EC to a grant-funded consortium of companies developing a knowledge base for engineering projects. The AIT project (Advanced Information Technology in Design and Manufacturing) will define optimum manufacturing processes.
PSI will use the EC money to develop its SuperCapes process planning software.
