NavisionDamgaard announces first project since merger.
NavisionDamgaard has announced its first major product revamp since the company proposed its formation through the merger of Navision and Damgaard last month, writes Alex Miller.
The company announced the web enabling for its Navision Financials product – which will allow users easy to access data within Navision Financials from a web browser.
Providing users with web access to Navision Financials is a crucial step in NavisionDamgaard’s e-business strategy according to the company, and it will make it easier for its customers in the mid-market to further utilise the internet.
‘This solution gives our customers a simple and straightforward way to access their data from anywhere, at any time, as long as they have access to a web browser,’ said a NavisionDamgaard spokesman.
The Navision Application Server, which is based on a Microsoft.NET server, makes web access to Navision Financials possible. It is understood several new e-business solutions will be announced over the next few months by the company.
The server runs on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as well as NavisionDamgaard’s own Navision Server.
The merger of Danish rivals Navision Software and Damgaard into NavisionDamgaard was announced last month and is expected to be confirmed at extraordinary general meetings at the two companies on 21 December.
NavisionDamgaard said all of its core products will be retained. It is believed the Navision Financials suite will be rebranded as Navision Solutions, while Damgaard will continue to sell the XAL and Axapta products.
The savings resulting from the merger are projected to be £11m in the first year.
