Collaborators unfurl standards
New standards of best practice for management consultants have been launched by the IMC and the Management Charter Initiative (MCI).
Developed after extensive consultation with consultants in practices of all sizes, buyers of consultancy services, academics and training providers, the standards clearly set out the skills and competences that management consultants need to provide effective advice to their clients and form an integral part of IMC’s updated Certified Management Consultant (CMC) qualification.
Management Consultants’ Standards goes step by step through the three main activities or key roles at the heart of the consultancy profession: agreeing the client’s need; developing and managing interactions with clients; and contributing to the implementation of the client’s decisions.
The standards can be used to identify training needs, match course provision to consultancy needs and provide a checklist for purchasing consultancy services.
