Helen Macauley, a trainee at a Bath-based practice, was elected as the new chair of the student council this week.
Macauley’s new role comes at a time when the ICAEW’s education programme and regional structure is undergoing a major restructuring.
Of her new role Macauley said: ‘I would like to build upon the foundations for chartered accountancy students put in place last year and make sure the 22 student societies around the country continue to make an active contribution towards the future of the accountancy profession.’
Prior to her new appointment Macauley was the chair of the Bristol and District chartered accountants students society.
ICAEW south west regional manager Alison Clark said: ‘Helen has achieved a great deal for chartered accountancy student in the region during her time in office locally. I am sure she will go on to play an important role in developing student affairs nationally.’
