Letwin tipped for shadow chancellor job

Oliver Letwin is expected to take over as shadow chancellor of the exchequer later today, as new Tory leader Michael Howard finalises his front bench.

In an announcement expected at 5.00pm, Howard is expected to offer the two big jobs to Letwin and David Davis, with the latter taking over home affairs.

Theresa May will get transport and environment with Dr Liam Fox and advertising guru Lord Saatchi taking over her previous role as co-chairmen of the Conservative Party.

Tim Yeo is expected to take over Fox’s previous post of health and education.
