PBR 08: Darling calls for review of Crown dependencies
Today's pre-Budget report sees Chancellor Alistair Darling call for review of Crown dependencies
Alistair Darling has cited potential problems with overseas territories such
as the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands following talks at the G20 Summit
earlier this month.
Darling said it is ‘crucial international transparency is implemented from
the G20 Summit’ as Crown dependencies continue to attract investors who avoid
contributing to the Exchequor.
Chancellor has asked for a review of the dependencies, and the report, with
recommendations, is due in the Spring.
