North West businessmen have come out on top in this year's Ernst & Young entrepreneur of the year awards held this week.

The entrepreneurs walked away with six out of eight awards in the regional finals held in Manchester on Wednesday, with the overall award going to the North West entrepreneur Simon Nixon of Moneysupermarket.com.
Shaid Luqman of Manchester-based Pearl Holdings, a property financing company, won in the young category for his passion, strong financial performance and ability to identify a great business niche.
Accountant Patrick Cryne, group chief executive at iSoft group, took the award in the technology and communications category.
Other winners included Anthony Richards of The Millennium Centre in St Helens, Jim Rowley of The Funding Company and Dean St John of Planet PVC group
