GE Healthcare chief wins institute award

Sir William Castell LVO was last night presented with the ICAEW outstanding achievement award for his services to the life sciences industry and the Prince's Trust, which he was chairman of from 1998 to 2003.

Following the acquisition of Amersham plc by GE Corporation of America, Sir William has been appointed as vice-chairman of the main board of GE and chief executive of GE Healthcare and is leading the integration of the two companies.

‘We look for distinctive contributions that command real respect,’ said Graham Ward, chairman of the ICAEW’s select committee. ‘Sir William epitomises what the award represents.’
