Cable & Wireless FD's pay packet swells to £1.4m

Tony Rice salary nears the £1.4m mark after his first full year as finance chief of the telecoms heavyweight

Tony Rice, the FD of Cable & Wireless, took home nearly £1.4m this year.

The information was disclosed in the telecom giant’s
annual
report
which was released this week.

Rice was formerly chief executive of Tunstall Holdings from 2002 until its
sale in 2005. He has also held MD and group treasurer roles at British
Aerospace.

The mammoth pay packet, which mainly consists of a £600,000 basic salary and
£600,000 bonus package, was a huge increase from his £95,000 salary in the
previous financial year. He received that pay packet after his appointment on 30
March 2006, a day before the company’s year-end.
