Budget 05: Public spending rises

Public spending to rise on transport, defence, education, health and police.

Gordon Brown has promised that for the fiscal year 2007-2008 the money spent on policing will be £3.5bn higher, transport will be £2.4bn larger, defence £3.7bn more, education £12bn greater and health £23bn larger.
